NADPH Receives Award from RWJF in Support of Mission

Woodbridge, VA - Alex J. Carlisle, Ph.D., Chairman and CEO of the National Alliance against Disparities in Patient Health (NADPH), today announced support from the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation (RWJF) in the form of general operating support funds.

"On behalf of my entire Team at NADPH, let me extend our deepest appreciation and gratitude for this generous gift of operational support from RWJF," said Carlisle. "RWJF's belief and continued support in NADPH is so important and meaningful to us; it not only reaffirms an already unwavering commitment to our mission, but more importantly provides critical resources to help further operationalize and achieve it. We humbly accept this invitation for general operating support (GOS) and stand steadfast in our commitment to using it to help reduce health disparities and improve health outcomes in underserved communities."

NADPH strives to help underserved and marginalized communities gain both a better understanding of the factors that impact their health, and greater access to the resources, assets, and innovations that can reduce health disparities and improve health outcomes in these communities. NADPH's ability to work with RWJF on such important projects as the "Rising Equitable Community Data Ecosystems (RECoDE)" project, or the "Improving Engagement in Community Level Data Collection" program, have helped to shape and refine its programs and operational models, strengthening the organization.
There are many challenges that organizations such as NADPH, and others with a similar mission, face in trying to compete for the resources needed to sustain operations and execute their missions to improve health equity in the U.S.; despite an upward trend in charitable giving over the past 40 years, 2022 saw a 10% drop in inflation adjusted giving, with various social, economic, and political indicators portending continued challenges, particularly for charities focused on equity issues, making this gift especially important.
