Auld & White Constructors Presents Associated Builders & Contractors Project Of The Year Award To Fire Station 10

(Jacksonville, FL) - Auld & White Constructors (AWC) proudly commemorated a significant milestone as they formally presented the esteemed Project of the Year award, bestowed by the Associated Builders and Contractors (ABC) Florida First Coast Chapter, to the City of Jacksonville and the dedicated firefighters of Fire Station 10. The celebratory event, held on Friday, December 1, at the fire station on McDuff Avenue, marked Auld & White Constructors' vigilant efforts to preserve the fire station's authentic aesthetic, overcoming substantial construction challenges, and the impact of the project on the community. As the sole commercial contractor recipient of the chapter's 2023 Excellence in Construction Project of the Year award, Auld & White Constructors was recognized for the exemplary work done on the renovation and addition of this historic fire station.

Established in 1927, the City of Jacksonville's Fire Station 10, affectionately known as "The Penitentiary," has evolved into one of Jacksonville Fire and Rescue Department's (JFRD) largest and most important stations. The renovation and addition to Fire Station 10 were essential to meet the community's evolving needs. Auld & White Constructors assisted with acquiring the adjacent properties to facilitate the expansion, meticulously managed the project, adding new bays, upgrading interiors, and ensuring safety compliance.

In the presence of JFRD chiefs, captains, and distinguished firefighters, Auld & White Constructors presented the award, memorializing the achievement and reaffirming the company's commitment to construction excellence. JFRD Director / Fire Chief Keith Powers, who once called Station 10 home, remarked, "The updates truly make Station 10 like home. Our guys work 24 on, 48 off, so they live in these stations for a 24-hour period," Powers explained. "They not only come to work, they also eat and sleep here - it's just like a regular house on the inside - then they respond to runs and 911 calls as they come in."

Throughout the renovation, Auld & White Constructors prioritized collaboration with the City of Jacksonville and the Fire Station 10 firefighters, ensuring minimal disruption to daily operations while navigating numerous construction challenges.
