Laboratory Testing Inc.’s President Honored with SmartCEO’s Family Business Award

HATFIELD, PA, April 4, 2016 – Mike McVaugh, president and CEO of Laboratory Testing Inc. (LTI), has been named a 2016 Family Business Awards honoree by Philadelphia SmartCEO. McVaugh was chosen from a distinguished group of talented individuals who hold a top leadership role in their family-owned and operated companies. Honorees were chosen after submitting information on various business issues, including strategy, vision, growth and competition, as well as topics related to running a family business.

Mike McVaugh was one of the original employees of Laboratory Testing Inc. when his father, Robert W. McVaugh, Sr. formed the company in 1984. He assumed the role of president in November of 1994 and became one of the co-owners of the Lab. Today, LTI is known as a full-service materials testing and metrology laboratory. Under Mike’s leadership, LTI branched out into a number of complimentary lines of business, including failure analysis, test specimen machining, on-site calibration and the sale of measuring instruments. In addition, the scope of services offered in the chemistry, mechanical testing, metallography, nondestructive testing and calibration departments has expanded significantly.

According to Mike, “I fully support and encourage investing in new equipment, training, technology and our facilities. LTI has always been a leader in the testing industry and we are ensuring that we continue to hold that position.”

SmartCEO’s mission is to educate and inspire the business community through its magazine, connections at events and online resources. The SmartCEO Family Business Awards celebrate the achievements of 30 of the Philadelphia area’s top family businesses, from small, boutique operations to large multi-generational firms. This year’s honorees collectively generate more than $4 billion in annual revenue and employ nearly 16,000 individuals. The honorees will be profiled in the May/June issue of Philadelphia SmartCEO magazine and will be celebrated at an awards ceremony on May 11, 2016 at Cescaphe Ballroom in Philadelphia.
