Award ceremony at World Halal Week Appreciation Dinner

Kuala Lumpur, 30 March – In conjunction with World Halal Conference 2016, the Halal Industry Development Corporation (HDC) announces Kumpulan Ramly with the ‘Halal Excellence Award’ at the World Halal Week Appreciation Dinner on the 30th March at Mandarin Oriental, Kuala Lumpur.

The award is presented to Dato’ Haji Ramly Mokni by YB. Dato’ Sri Mustapa Mohamad, the Minister of International Trade and Industry.

Presented annually, the award is given to individuals or organisations that have greatly contributed and achieved high standards in the Halal industry. The juries comprise of representatives from the Government, corporate, non-profit and academic spheres.

Kumpulan Ramly is a local F&B company with a revenue of RM2 billion every year owned by Dato’ Haji Ramly Bin Mokni and Datin Hajjah Siah Binti Abdul Manap. The company manufactures Halal, clean and high quality meat-based products such as beef, chicken and seafood. The company currently exports to six countries inclusive of Singapore, Thailand, Indonesia, Myanmar, Cambodia and Bangladesh.

On 25th August 2015, they invested RM1 billion in a manufacturing complex in the Halal Hub Industrial Park at Indah Island, Selangor. It has a production factory, Halal logistics, a frozen and dry-storage depot, a training centre as well as a Research and Development facility with expected completion at the end of year 2017.

“Kumpulan Ramly has come a long way since its inception and today the company has an estimated annual revenue of RM1 billion with 12 subsidiary companies. With this award, we strive to take the company to great new heights said Dato’ Haji Ramly.

Dato’ Sri Mustapa Mohamed added, “The Halal Excellence Award is introduced in the hopes of inspiring local Halal companies to go beyond Malaysian shores, we hope more and more companies take up the challenge and exceed the expectations of the local demand of the Halal Industry .

The World Halal Conference is from the 30th to 31st March at Kuala Lumpur City Centre.
