KÄHRS NORDIC HOMEWORX UTILISES WASTE WOOD AS BIO-FUEL
In line with their ISO: 4001 certification, Kährs Nordic Homeworx implements strategy to use waste wood pieces as bio fuelDubai, U.A.E: 23rd March, 2016
Further justifying their ISO: 4001 certification, Kährs Nordic Homeworx takes wooden flooring to a whole new level as they have now introduced a new strategy to utilise all excess wood pieces that cannot be used for production purposes as bio fuel. The move benefits the plant situated in picturesque Nybro, as it heats up the premises. Aside from this, approximately 45,000 people who are around the neighbourhood are also currently benefitting from this move. Thus, they have taken measures to ensure that all wood brought into the facility is used to its utmost potential ensuring that none of the wood is thrown away.
The ISO 4001 certification is awarded to companies that have not only taken steps to implement environmental conservation strategies, but have actively launched measures in which to do so. Companies can sign up for the policy, where they make a commitment to abide by particular regulations that govern their eligibility for the certification at the end of a certain period of time. However, they need to maintain this over the long-term as they could lose this accolade for failing to meet the requirements they promised to fulfill. The use of bio-fuel from the company’s waste products is a move that is revolutionary especially as energy resources need to be consumed attentively today.
‘As anybody knows, Sweden is a country that is not only beautiful, but raw and authentic in its appeal. We have expanses of forests and scenic mountain beauty which are just a couple of its attractions. At Kährs, we feel that for the sake of wooden flooring we need not unnecessarily deplete the natural resources of our bountiful environment. We realised that despite our best efforts to minimise waste, we were still ending up with a pile of unused wood at the end of a production period which could not be used for flooring. Hence, we explore options of bio-fuel which, to our delight proved to be a success… and here we are!’ – Manager Operations
Founded as family business dating 150 years back in 1857, Kährs has built a reputation as the oldest wood floor manufacturer in the world still in operation in southern Sweden an area which is famed for its rugged beauty and scenic landscapes.
Of all the materials that are used for flooring, we find that wood has a certain appeal about it. It is classic, it is timeless, and it can soften an interior resulting in an earthy and rustic atmosphere. It exudes warmth and has a welcoming aura. Whether your house stands for 20 years or 150 years, wood never goes out of style. It will be as relevant today as it will be tomorrow and with Kährs this timelessness is exemplified for we use only the best quality raw materials to craft your interiors. We are also proud of our movement on the development of parquet as a flooring style.
