Comfortable, modern and energy self-sustained living ? that?s what the architecture team of the TU Darmstadt performed with this bungalow and won the 1st place of the Solar Decathlon. And right in the middle the Logline® ENERGY system of BTR NETCOM

TU Darmstadt is the winner of the Solar Decathlon contest / Highest energy reserves / The focus on power consumption

Blumberg, November 2007. The self-sustaining solar house of the Technische Universität Darmstadt carried off the first place. The architecture faculty of the TU won the Solar Decathlon, an international contest of the U.S. Department of Energy. The bungalow scored among other with its high energy reserves. Part of the design - the energy controlling system Logline® ENERGY of BTR NETCOM GmbH located in Blumberg/Germany. BTR NETCOM, one of the leading manufacturers of systems for building cablings and building automation is sponsoring the Darmstadt solar house project together with about 90 German industry sponsors.

Logline® ENERGY a new system development for energy controlling by BTR NETCOM consists of networked DCU data loggers (DCU = Data Control Unit) for consumption capturing via M-bus and of sensors, signal converters, power supplies and software. "The energy controlling system provides house owners and facility managers with an automatic and complete focus on the power consumption of buildings", states Torsten Janwlecke, Managing Director of BTR NETCOM. They can easily practise remote monitoring of buildings via telephone or data network from one central office. Consumption data can be analysed in charts and diagrams on a computer to optimise the energy need and to further cut consumption. One Logline® ENERGY DCU data logger controls up to 80 meters and collection points. The Team of the TU Darmstadt decided for a premium solution consistent both in techniques and aesthetics that left a deep mark at the presentation in Washington D.C. "A class of its own", stated the jury and awarded highest scores in the sections architecture, lighting and energy balance.

Four different bus systems perform together in the Darmstadt solar house to provide an economic, efficient and easily controllable electro-infrastructure. A LCN bus controls lamps, switch-keys and outlets. Programmed light scenes light up on one key-stroke. Three more bus systems – EIB, Mod-Bus and the M-Bus with the Logline solution by BTR NETCOM – collect temperatures, humidity, CO2 concentration of the room air and current consumption. The data of the four bus systems are bundled in the system control software B-CON. Data are visualized on computer via touch panel offering a complete overview of all relevant building components.
