25-hydroxyvitamin D3 is a substance obtained from the active metabolite precursor vitamin D3 by adding a hydroxyl group to the 25 carbon atom and undergoing a series of biochemical reactions in the body. It undergoes hydroxylation by a 25-hydroxylase in the mitochondria of stem cells and has biological activity, which can be widely used in fields such as medicine, health products, and feed. 25-hydroxyVD3, also known as ossifying diol, is an active metabolite of VD3. VD3 cannot directly play a physiological role in humans and animals. Adding or supplementing vitamin D3 in the diet requires intestinal absorption and conversion to 25-hydroxyVD3 (semi active VD3) through enzymatic hydroxylation reaction, which is then metabolized by the liver and kidneys to produce fully active vitamin 1 α, 25-hydroxyvitamin D3 (fully active VD3) takes effect. Therefore, 25-hydroxyVD3 can bypass the liver and act directly for human or animal use, accelerating the absorption rate of calcium.
