An Interactive Art Exhibition "Postcards from the Abstract(ed) Universe" opens in LIC
Studio 34 Gallery proudly presents "POSTCARDS FROM THE ABSTRACT(ED) UNIVERSE", a solo exhibition of Queens inspired abstract paintings and interactive animations by a resident artist Sandra Vucicevic, a recipient of the 2023 Flushing Town Hall Grant. The exhibition reveals the artist's unique vision of the vibrant borough, as she transforms photographs of Queens landmarks, such as the Unisphere and the Flushing Meadows Corona Park, into colorful and dynamic abstract compositions. The photos were taken by community photographers who share a connection to Queens, either as their home or place of work. The exhibition displays the original photos next to the abstract paintings they inspired, creating a dialogue between realism and abstraction. It also features an Augmented Reality experience, allowing the visitors to interact with the paintings using their smartphones and tablets, and see them come to life.OPENING RECEPTION: Thursday, October 26, from 6 to 9 pm.
LOCATION: Studio 34 Gallery, 34-01 38th Ave, LIC, NY 11101.
This event is free and open to the public.
