Girls on the Run - DC's Community 5K: Run, Walk, and Inspire
Girls on the Run has fun, evidence-based programs that inspire all girls to build their confidence, kindness and decision-making
GOTR-DC is a nonprofit organization dedicated to empowering young girls by providing them with the tools to be joyful, healthy, and confident using a researched-based curriculum that creatively integrates running and mentorship.

The GOTR-DC Community 5K is not just a race; it's a celebration of the incredible girls who have worked hard during the 10-week season to build their confidence and other important life skills. Event attendees include program participants, their coaches, friends and families, and the community at large. Everyone is encouraged to join in the fun, whether you're running, walking, or cheering from the sidelines.
Pre-race festivities begin at 7AM, featuring a variety of engaging activities and entertainment for all ages. Participants and spectators can look forward to face painting, music, dancing and more!
The 5K itself kicks off promptly at 8AM. The course winds through the scenic Anacostia Park, providing a beautiful backdrop for participants of all ages and abilities.
Registration for the event is now open, and all proceeds go directly to supporting the GOTR-DC program scholarship fund. More than 65% of program participants are provided with a full or partial scholarship, ensuring that every girl has the opportunity to participate despite their ability to pay.
"We're absolutely thrilled to invite the community to join us for this incredible event," said Devoria Armstead, Executive Director of Girls on the Run - DC. "Our Community 5K provides an opportunity for our girls to shine and celebrate their accomplishments. We encourage everyone to come out, cheer on our teams, and be part of an uplifting experience."

Girls on the Run® is a life-changing, character development program for girls in 3rd through 8th grade. The mission is to educate and prepare girls for a lifetime of self-respect and healthy living. We use exercise, positive reinforcement, and encouraging role models to help girls discover the confidence they need in the critical pre-teen years and beyond. Girls on the Run - DC is an independent council of Girls on the Run International, and has served more than 23,000 girls since its founding in 2006.
