MayWhit Fit Deli opens in Eltham with focus on nutritional cuisine

Underpinned by the belief that a nutritious diet is the foundation of long-term health, former football professional and Olympic fitness coach, Ben May and Dan Whitaker, have launched the first MayWhit Fit Deli in Eltham, London. Following the successful launch of their online service during the pandemic to meet the rising demand for convenient, high-quality nutritional meals, local-born May and Whitaker have announced the new deli and café will open to the public on Monday 28 August.

Concerned by the rise in diet-related health issues, MayWhit is on a mission to provide access to meals that are not only nutrient dense, but convenient and uncompromising on flavour. The fitness duo already works along-side community action project Roots4Life to provide nutritional meals for those struggling with malnutrition and are actively supporting international footballer Marcus Rashford's campaign to end child food poverty.

"With backgrounds in the fitness industry and extensive knowledge in sports science, we hope to share our expertise to support others and encourage individuals to live healthier lifestyles. As parents ourselves, we know how difficult it can be to ensure children maintain energy levels with nutritional food that is both convenient and appealing in today's hectic climate. There has been a dramatic rise in childhood obesity which we hope to tackle by offering delicious convenient solutions both through our deli and online delivery service" said Dan Whitaker, Director of MayWhit Food.

Dishes at the new Fit Deli will focus on high-quality, locally sourced ingredients, free from added chemicals and preservatives, and catering to different dietary lifestyles. Each meal is carefully created to ensure they are nutritionally balanced to help combat the rigours of hectic routines and individuals leading an active lifestyle, helping to improve energy, sleep, sport recovery and reduce mood swings. The deli will offer a range of eat-in and takeaway meals, snacks and drinks, as well as packed lunch options for the nearby school.

A friendship that started in the playground, Ben May and Dan Whitaker found they shared a common passion to provide nutritionally convenient meals and launched MayWhit Food in 2020. Certified in Sports Science with a 1st class honours, Dan became a trainer to elite athletes offering support for Watford FC and the GB Shooting Team in the 2012 London Olympics. Ben embarked on different route, signing a contract with Millwall Football Club and playing at professional level for the likes of Brentford, Colchester, Stevenage, Barnet and Scunthorpe, before being offered the role of Strength & Conditioning Coach for Bromley FC.
