Smart Cities: Cleopa GmbH is a partner of the research project Sharknet

Cleopa, located in Hennigsdorf, invests in technologies. In Smart Cities a wide range of data is collected at many sensor points. Data loss and data manipulation are a problem. A technology of the future, which solves the challenges, are Decentral Semantic Networks (DSN). The Open Source Project 'Sharknet' is funded as part of the Berlin research programm IFAF. The DSN 'Sharknet' will be developed for smart schools but can also be adopted to Smart Home or Smart Cities applications. The involved universities (HTW and Beuth) are supported with 200 000 € from Berlin. The industry partners, Cleopa and Immoscout, will support Sharknet with five-digit equity capital.

„The Sharknet project is very fascinating, that we gladly invest a five-digit amount without any hesitation. The DSN, often called Web of Things, will increase safe communication in smart cities. With Sharknet it is possible to build small and autonomous data networks, e.g. in case of an earthquake. Investments of smart cities will become saver. There are a lot of applications, where Sharknet as open source application will offer protection. That is, why we want to participate in the development.“ so Detlef Olschewski, CEO of the Cleopa. The smart cities activities of the Cleopa involve energy consulting of companies, energy performance contracting and energy-related research. Other activities of Cleopa GmbH, founded in 1998, are international cooperations and innovation management for other companies. Recently, Cleopa GmbH was authorized for the german innovation projects go-innovativ and go-effizient.

consulting on energy efficiency: for companies in the context of the KfW Fund "Energy efficiency in SMEs". Cleopa is trusted very well with the chances and challenges of energy efficiency projects, which is based on its long-standing activity in the energy consulting.

lighting contracting: From an annual burning time of 4,000 hours, switching to energy-efficient bulbs can be economically successful. The willingness for an investment by the operator or user of the lighting system is often missing. For this purpose Cleopa offers lighting contracting. We offer our customers in this still young business unit:
- the complete takeover of investment and retooling costs ,
- the acquisition of maintenance and operation,
- the improvement of lighting situation,
- the reduction of energy consumption,
- a perennial cap of the costs on the Status quo and
- pro-rata bonus credits of the energy cost savings for the operator.

Development and execution of innovation projects: in the field of energy. Cleopa develops projects for and with partners. This includes the management consulting for the financing, participation in the submission, involvement of the companies in associations as well as the participation in the project implementation and documentation.
