Sonoma Cast Stone Launches First Rental Program For Concrete Wine Tanks

Sonoma Cast Stone is pleased to introduce its concrete NuBarrel® tanks for rent. Concrete NuBarrel® tanks have a capacity of 240 gallons, the same as four oak barrels. NuBarrels® are more space-efficient than oak, much easier to clean and allow almost no evaporation. NuBarrels® can be used for fermentation or aging of red or white wines. Both red and white wines can be produced alternately in the same NuBarrel®.

Concrete breathes like oak, adding depth and complexity to wine without extraneous flavors to mask the fruit. This is said to be like having the best qualities of oak and steel without the drawbacks of either. The resulting wine is allowed to showcase its own terroir, tasting more like where it's from with fruit-foward flavor and enhanced mouth-feel.

The charge to rent a concrete NuBarrel® is $1,800 per year. At anytime during the rental period, one half of the accrued rental payments can be applied toward purchase of the tank or tanks.
