Dehydrogenation is the stored hydrogen is required, the LOHC compound undergoes the dehydrogenation process, typically through the application of heat or catalytic reactions. This releases the hydrogen from the LOHC molecule, making it available for use in various applications. Regeneration the after hydrogen is released, the spent LOHC compound can be regenerated by re-hydrogenating it, using surplus renewable energy or waste heat. This allows the LOHC compound to be reused in the storage and transport cycle, making the process sustainable.
