The Modena Apennines Regional Park, located at the foot of Monte Cimone, provides the atmospheric backdrop for the theme that will unite all: Dialogue. A directing course and an acting course will approach the Art of Dialogue from two sides.
The directing course with Dr. Jurij Alschitz is entitled: The Director in Dialogue with the Text and in Dialogue with the Actor.
"How does the director get the text to speak to him? He seeks dialogue. But how do you open this dialogue? One understands the text, the role, words as living beings and finds the right keys to their secrets. The art of directing lies in bringing this process to life in rehearsals with the actors. And again, it is the art of dialogue to awaken the creative powers of all involved."
The acting course with Christine Schmalor is dedicated to The Nature of Dialogue - The Dialog in Nature. Explorations of a Stage Language.
"The range of dialogical principles, leads us from pure play to existential questioning - we encounter the other and thus ourselves. (...) How do thoughts and texts develop not only together with the partner, but in the face of another dimension - nature? A triangle emerges in which the balance of power is constantly changing."
Dr Jurij Alschitz and Christine Schmalor take up a topic that had already occupied them intensively in 2008-2010 and had led, with the help of European laboratories, to the publication of the fundamental textbook "The Art of Dialogue". (avalable at: https://theatreculture.org/shop)
However, they have noticed that the topic of Dialogue has rather become more urgent over the years and that both in society and - mirrored on stage, monological structures have increasingly gained the upper hand.
This is where the research project comes in again: How can dialogue joyfully gain new radiance as a cultural competence?
The XIII International Theatre Summer Academy invites professional theatre practitioners to contribute to this reserach.

The World Theatre Training Institute AKT-ZENT is the research institute for theatre training methods of the International Theatre Institute (ITI) / World Organisation for the Performing Arts.
Under the artistic direction of Dr. Jurij Alschitz, a successful teaching and rehearsal practice has been developed under the name "Training as Method", which is applied worldwide by a specially trained European team of teachers.
The institute focuses on the innovation of theatre training in theory and practice, which is tested in a variety of training and further education programmes. An artistic-methodological focus is on the development of new strategies of self-education and self-creation of the artistic individual and the understanding of a "holistic theatre".
Dr. Jurij Alschitz also uses the interplay of natural science and humanities to develop new methods and practical exercises. Projects such as applied quantum pedagogy for acting training emerge on this basis.
