This groundbreaking initiative aims to support and empower local artisans in Mogok, Burma, while preserving the region's cultural heritage through an international platform.

For centuries, the people of Mogok have been passionately handcrafted gemstone paintings, using low-grade rough gemstones or mineral stones found in the region, to create unique and striking pieces of art.Their dedication to their craft is inspiring and this traditional art form is deeply ingrained in their cultural heritage, showcasing the intersection of history, craftsmanship, and natural beauty.

Mogok, an 800 years old historic city in northern Myanmar (Burma), is renowned for its world's finest gems, including ruby, sapphire, spinel, peridot, and moonstone. It is home to thousands of working mines and diggings, as well as the heart of local independent artisans who handcraft gemstone paintings using the low-grade rough gemstones and mineral stones found in the region.

Unfortunately, with the changing times and the rise of mass-produced goods, the demand for traditional artisan crafts has significantly declined. This unfortunate circumstance has left many talented local artisans struggling to make ends meet and endangered the preservation of their cultural heritage.

THE BURMA CRAFT COLLECTIVE aims to change this narrative by collaborating with these local independent artisans, providing them with an opportunity to showcase their extraordinary skills and artworks to an international audience.
