Primestream and ASG Software Solutions Deliver Partial File Restore Directly From Tape for FORK Media Asset Management

The new solution will be demonstrated at the 2015 National Association of Broadcasters (NAB) Show in Las Vegas, NV.

ASG-Digital Archive (ADA) is an archiving software solution for large data volumes that enables archiving to a large variety of storage technologies. Among them, tape libraries are often used by customers as long-term archives because they offer large storage volumes at competitive prices. However, restoring a few seconds of such a large asset may require restoring the entire asset to disk first. ADA allows quick access to the sequence of interest whether it comes from tape or from disk for assets that use MXF or Quicktime.

“Editors using FORK and ADA can now have access to any bit of media during the whole workflow,” says Robert Overzee, product marketing manager, ASG Software Solutions. "Any piece of media must be available whenever it is needed. That’s what this combined solution is offering."

Primestream’s FORK software suite offers a cross platform, comprehensive solution for the ingest, management, editing, playout and archiving of media. The FORK Content Navigator™ client application allows media to be browsed, searched and filtered using any metadata field. Users can identify a portion of video needed in a clip and restore only the area of interest. FORK enables sophisticated metadata driven workflows, craft editor integration and flexible rules-based archiving and restoration. Customized properties, forms and logging tools are available, as well as live proxy generation and transcoding. Once content is restored from the archive and ready for distribution, users can send content to air using Live Assist or FORK Master Control Playout. FORK is available for Mac® and Windows® OS as well as hybrid environments.
