Successful order for Thies Clima: Over 100 fire engines equipped with mobile weather station

In recent years, the importance of weather data for the operation of emergency vehicles such as fire engines or ambulances has increased more and more. Weather conditions such as rain, wind and heat often play an important role in the planning and execution of fire brigade and rescue operations. Mobile weather stations make a significant contribution to this. They provide rescue forces with a real-time data basis for making informed decisions and taking quick and effective action in the event of an emergency. Suitable weather stations must offer high reliability and availability even in the harsh environment of such operations.

A recent successful order from Thies Clima to equip more than 100 fire engines with "Clima Sensor US" once again confirms the high demands placed on measurement technology during rescue, fire-fighting, recovery and protection operations. The weather station, which has been perfected for integration into vehicles, fits ideally into the most diverse fleets with its equipment features: The device offers precise measurements of relative humidity, ambient temperature, wind speed, wind direction, barometric pressure, brightness, precipitation amount, intensity and precipitation type in a minimum of space. In addition, data such as wind chill or heat index are output. Exact time, position and direction determination by means of built-in GPS and magnetic compass enables complete documentation of the course of action. The weather station has an RS485 interface and is available as an ASCII, Modbus RTU and NMEA version.

TrueWind - A series standard at Thies Clima for mobile applications while driving: To determine the True Wind, the speed and direction of the vehicle are determined via the GPS data and the magnetic compass and subtracted from the measured wind speed and direction relative to the vehicle.

Thies is certain that the mobile weather station "Clima Sensor US" will continue to meet the requirements of emergency services and fire brigades worldwide. Many years of 24/7 operational experience under almost all climatic conditions, as well as proven resistance to shock, vibration and pollution have allowed the "Clima Sensor US" to mature into a robust device suitable for everyday use, which even functions reliably in industrial environments. As a series device, rapid availability of the "ClimaSensor US" is a matter of course, even with high quantities. The device is comprehensively documented and easy to install. Suitable adapters and accessories are part of the delivery programme.

Special feature: The integration of the NMEA protocol, the automatic north correction via the magnetic compass and the True Wind calculation make the weather station even more functional and user-friendly. The detailed and precise precipitation detection (incl. hail) and the absence of false-positive precipitation outputs are further unique selling points.
