Nickel-Rich Cathodes: There is increasing interest in developing cathode materials with higher nickel content (e.g., NMC 811 - containing 80% nickel) to further improve energy density and reduce costs. Nickel-rich cathodes offer higher specific capacity, which means more energy can be stored in the same volume of battery material.

Solid-State Batteries: Solid-state batteries, which use solid electrolytes instead of liquid electrolytes, are being explored as the next-generation battery technology for electric vehicles. In solid-state batteries, new types of cathode materials are being developed to enhance performance and safety.
