SaaScon PH: Spotlighting B2B SaaS & Its Role in Digital Transformation

Last March 28, 2023, Sprout Solutions and Kaya Founders held SaaScon PH at the Marriott Grand Ballroom in Pasay City. Over 700 startup founders, business leaders, and investors attended the biggest SaaS (Software as a Service) conference in the Philippines.

SaaS, Artificial Intelligence, & Digital Transformation

SaaScon PH had 21 brilliant speakers and panelists discussing the local B2B (business-to-business) SaaS industry, the startup founder's journey, and new ways to achieve business transformation.

Sprout's CEO and co-founder, Patrick Gentry, kicked the event off by discussing the expanding B2B SaaS industry and how it helps businesses succeed in a digital world.

Patrick's opening remarks were followed by a video message from the Department of Information and Communications Technology (DICT) Secretary, Hon. John Ivan E. Uy. He discussed the Philippine public sector's challenges in adopting digital tools and how to build a stronger, more innovative culture of digital transformation addressing people's needs.

Attendees also listened to insightful talks about the rise of SaaS and artificial intelligence (AI) and local businesses achieving digital transformation. Several tech experts and Philippine company leaders led these discussions, including JG Summit Holdings Inc.'s Lisa Gokongwei-Cheng and the Ayala Corporation's Jaime Alfonso Zobel de Ayala.

Introducing New SaaS Tools

After lunch, IMPACT '23's finalists introduced their digital solutions to the SaaScon PH crowd. Sprout and Kaya Founders chose these early-stage startups from ten finalists that joined an eight-week accelerator program.

Umwelt.AI, an AI-powered employee experience management platform (EEXM)
Smile, a tool using one API (Application Programming Interface) for lending companies requiring employment data
Olivia, an AI and cloud-based app that lets users turn receipts and invoices into reports and digital assets within minutes

The Olivia app became IMPACT '23's grand winner, with prizes including up to $100,000 of equity investment from Kaya Founders.

The Wrap-Up

Before the day ended, several startup founders, investors, and experts discussed SaaS, its future, and supporting local digital startups. These talks featured WIZ.AI's Jennifer Zhang, Softbank Ventures Asia's Harris Yang, and Kaya Founders' Paulo Campos.

SaaScon PH then concluded with Paulo's inspiring closing remarks, a video recap, and a raffle draw. Multiple partners powered the successful event, including Amazon Web Services (AWS), Brankas, KMC Solutions, Maya Business, and Rappler.
