DataVard Develops Real-Time System Monitoring Tool for SAP HANA

Heidelberg (Germany), December 17, 2014 – Software and consulting company DataVard announced today that it has expanded its DataVard Canary Code™ monitoring solution. Its new release, presented at the SAP® TechEd® && d-code® conference in Las Vegas, offers real-time SAP system monitoring for the SAP HANA platform. The application monitors the entire SAP system landscape availability, performance and security. DataVard Canary Code™ sends alerts of predefined thresholds being breached, enabling IT to react before the end user is affected.

Companies are expected to benefit from consistent monitoring with improved system performance, availability, timely detection and elimination of bottlenecks, as well as reduction and stabilization of ETL runtime. Using this tool, HR services company Randstad was able to eliminate the cause of its performance problems and downtime and allocate its resources optimally. “Canary Code™ enabled us to parallelize the data-loading process sensibly and improve it by 64 percent,” says Steffen Muesel, manager of Development & Integration at Randstad Germany.

DataVard Canary Code™ enables customers to choose from 100 predefined KPIs or define their own. The indicators and thresholds that are monitored can be adapted accordingly at any time. Based on that, the tool writes reports about past incidents, shows possible weaknesses and compiles trend prognoses. The monitoring tool takes into account the interdependency between SAP and third-party software. It tracks the entire SAP system landscape from one central point. When a threshold is reached, the tool alerts IT department in real time via email or text message. The tool issues an “all clear” when the levels are brought back in line.
