FDM Group shortlisted for two gongs at the Women in IT Awards 2015
Britain’s largest listed IT services provider, FDM Group, has been shortlisted for two categories at the inaugural 2015 Women in IT Awards in partnership with Salesforce. The firm will be competing for the top prize in both the Advocate of the Year and the Editor’s Choice categories.Judged by a 15-strong panel of well-known figures in the industry, the 2015 Women in IT Awards aim to recognise the outstanding innovation of women in the industry whilst also showcasing the value and satisfaction such a career can bring.
Encouraging women in IT is a message FDM has strongly supported since the launch of its Women in IT campaign in 2011. As a result of its campaign, the company has achieved a 25% female workforce, well above the UK IT sector national average of 17%. Furthermore, 50% of the senior management team is made up of women. The company also offers a support and mentoring network for employees seeking to succeed in the traditionally male-dominated sector.
Of this achievement FDM’s COO and Global Female Champion, Sheila Flavell, said: “As an employer that is committed to attracting, recruiting and retaining women in the industry, we will continue to encourage and support the representation of women across the business through our dedicated Women in IT campaign.”
The Advocate of the Year category recognises a technology company that has gone above and beyond to encourage more women to pursue an IT career in the last 18 months. The Editor’s Choice Award will be chosen by Information Age’s editorial team and will be given to a woman who has achieved something exceptional in the IT industry and who demonstrates strong leadership, trend setting, technology adoption or awareness of women in IT.
Flavell continues, “I am proud to be part of an organisation that takes initiative to encourage a more diverse workforce. I personally spearhead our women in IT campaign and it’s great to see the amount of fantastic women this has brought into FDM.”
Flavell has been instrumental to the growth of FDM’s Women in IT campaign, introducing a Female Champions initiative globally and hosting various women in IT events for those beginning their careers in IT and executive women who are driving gender diversity in the industry. Flavell was chosen as one of Cranfield School Management’s 100 Women to Watch in 2013 and 2014, one of TechCityInsider’s Top 100 Movers and Shakers on the London Digital Scene 2013 and was chosen as Leader of the Year in a Corporate Organisation at the 2012 Cisco everywoman in Technology Awards.
The winners will be announced on 29th January 2015 at the Grosvenor Hotel, Park Lane.
