Adelphi University and the Robert B. Willumstad School of Business present an evening on The Big Data Revolution with author and Professor Viktor Mayer-Schönberger, Monday, November 10 at 6:00 p.m.

This free event will be held in the Thomas F. Dixon Lovely Ballroom, at the Ruth S. Harley University Center on Adelphi’s Garden City Campus, 1 South Avenue. No tickets are required for this event and there will be a book signing after the lecture.

Big Data has become commonplace in business and technology circles. Professor Mayer- Schönberger is the co-author of business best-seller Big Data: A Revolution That Will Transform How We Live, Work, and Think. His expertise draws out the many ways in which the revolution of big data analysis will change global businesses and everyday life.

Acclaimed for his groundbreaking research into the role of information in the networked economy, Mayer- Schönberger is known as a visionary thinker on information innovation in a digital age. He is professor of Internet governance and regulation at the Oxford Internet Institute (OII) and a faculty affiliate of the Belfer Center of Science and International Affairs at Harvard University. He has published eight books, including the award-winning Delete: The Virtue of Forgetting in the Digital Age, and is also the author of more than a hundred articles and book chapters on the information economy.

This event is sponsored by the Erna S. Lovely Endowed Lecture Series and is a signature program celebrating the Willumstad School of Business Fiftieth Anniversary. The Erna S. Lovely Endowed Lecture Series was established with a generous philanthropic commitment from Erna S. Lovely, M.A. ‘65, and Thomas Dixon Lovely ‘54, ‘04 (Hon.). The series, established to attract speakers of national stature whose presence adds to the campus environment, brings leaders in the fields of economics, finance and/or politics to Adelphi.
