MP Tourism coordinated seminars in Bhopal to elevate Rural Tourism of MP

Bhopal. Madhya Pradesh Tourism Board conducted seminars on rural upliftment with the help of responsible tourism in Bhopal. These seminars were conducted with the objective of spreading awareness and encouraging homestay owners for the development of hospitality within Madhya Pradesh. The chief guest of these seminars was the founder Director of the International Centre for Responsible Tourism (ICRT) Mr Harold Goodwin from the United Kingdom.

A seminar was conducted on and Promotion-Pricing-Marketing of Alternative Accommodation at the Water and Land Management Institute of Bhopal (WALMI) where the homestay owners of Madhya Pradesh were made aware about the strategies of Promotion, Pricing and Marketing of homestays. Mr. Harold Goodwin highlighted that the concept of rural tourism and homestays provides the most authentic and memorable experiences. He added that these homestays and local cuisines provide a first-hand experience to the tourists. He insisted that these rural areas are need to be developed as better places to live and better places to visit. Mr. Goodwin also discussed several approaches for the promotion, pricing and marketing of alternative accommodations.

The Responsible Tourism- Responsible Food was conducted at the Indian Institute of Hotel Management (IHM), Bhopal on where Mr Goodwin highlighted the significance of food experience in the context of developing tourism in rural areas. He added that these local food items provide a value for money experience to the tourists which can only be co-created by the local people. He also added that quality food experiences are the cheapest form of marketing which can work as a business advantage for rural tourism. The event was attended by Mr. Richard Hearn (Rural and Responsible Tourism Consultant) Ms. Manisha Pande (Director, ICRT India Chapter) and Dr. Anand Kumar Singh (Principal, IHM Bhopal) along with Dr. Manoj Kumar Singh (Director of Skills Department, MPTB)
