However, the FAA and similar bodies have been proactively working on reducing such challenges to allow faster and safer adoption of drones and UAVs. However, drones that weigh more than 25 kg, or that wish to operate BVLOS, require further certification. The type certification issued for a particular aircraft model will signify that the manufacturer has met particular safety standards deemed necessary for operating in the National Airspace System (NAS). A similar process can cost many millions of dollars for manned aircraft, and once completed, every identical aircraft created by the manufacturer is automatically certified. However, since UAS and UAVs are not involved with transporting humans, the process is expected to be further streamlined, allowing for easier certification procurement. Such factors are expected to reduce the impact of unmanned traffic management market restraint by some extent.
