As a result, MEMS has become a crucial component of various automation components in Level 1, 2, and 3 autonomous vehicles, considerably increasing the demand for inertial systems in the automotive industry. The market growth is being driven by the increased need for safety in automobiles. Every year, nearly 1.35 million people are killed in traffic accidents across the globe, according to the World Health Organization (WHO). Furthermore, between 20 and 50 million additional people are injured non-fatally, with many of them becoming disabled as a result of their injury. MEMS accelerometers serve a critical role in increasing car safety features.

In October 2019, Honeywell launched the HGuide i300, which is a high-performance MEMS-based inertial measurement unit (IMU) designed to meet the needs of applications in a variety of markets, including agriculture, AUVs, industrial equipment, robotics, survey/mapping, stabilized platforms, transportation, unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs), and unmanned ground vehicles (UGVs). The HGuide i300 can be readily integrated into a variety of topologies owing to industry-standard communication interfaces and a wide input voltage range. The HGuide i300's tiny size, lightweight, and low power make it suitable for a wide range of applications.
