SouthAfrica.TO achieves a top 1000 Alexa ranking
SouthAfrica.TO, an online flight price comparison website at southafrica.to, last week broke into the top 1000 South African websites, as measured by Alexa."Alexa rankings, while not perfect, give a good idea of the amount of traffic which a website is experiencing. For instance, in South Africa Google and Facebook are the two most popular websites by Alexa rankings", says Karen Baker, marketing manager for SouthAfrica.TO. "We are particularly pleased that we have achieved our goal for 2007 of achieving a top 1000 Alexa ranking. In fact, our latest Alexa South Africa ranking is 871."
Karen says that they noticed a step-up in Alexa ranking since launching a free weekly newsletter. "There is a noticable spike in traffic after the newsletter is distributed. We also started a lucky draw for anybody who subscribes to the newsletter, which has resulted in a larger proportion of readers subscribing to the newsletter."
"Our Alexa ranking of 871 compares to a ranking of 730 for Kulula.com, or a ranking of 1,211 for 1time airline. We are still a bit behind the Australian company which used to be dominant, Flight Centre SA (at 672); but it's heartening to see that we've achieved a better ranking than 1time airline or Nationwide airline. This inspires us to continue to deliver outstanding service to our website readers."
