Bernau bei Berlin, 3 September 2014 – Fall Semester 2014/15 gives online learners more courses and certification options to choose from, while iversity welcomes new leadership into the company.

The course catalogue expands this October with “Governance and Policy Advice: How political decisions come to life” from the Hertie School of Governance, “Einführung in das Rechnungswesen” from the RWTH Aachen and “Hanse-MOOC” from Fachhochschule Lübeck. Due to popularity and high demand, six courses will be repeated, all of which attracted a total 56,000 online learners in the first run. These courses will cover topics from the fields of computer science, economics, medicine, crystallography and philosophy. A complete list of Fall Semester courses can be found here: https://iversity.org/courses?state=upcoming&language=

iversity Tracks: YouTube usability, university-level quality

In addition, iversity introduces integrated study tracks on the platform. Tracks are study path options within each course, offering online learners the chance to receive customised certificates after the successful completion of course requirements. For the first time, online learners can decide upon enrolment to take a course free-of-charge using the “Audit Track” or have their learning accomplishments recognised through a “Certificate Track”, “ECTS Track” or “Executive Track”. The paid tracks come at three different price levels: €49, €99 and €149. With just a few clicks, online learners can put together their own curriculum by picking course offerings from different universities. By utilising the universities' quality assurance mechanisms, iversity combines formal education with the flexibility of informal learning.

Sander Nijssen joins as second managing director

On 1 September, Sander Nijssen joined iversity as a second Managing Director alongside Hannes Klöpper. After working for the World Bank and the Dutch Central Bank, Nijssen founded a restaurant chain with ten locations across Europe. He then went on to become co-founder and CFO for the start-up “The New Motion”, a charging station provider for electric vehicles. In just 3 years, he helped the start-up grow into a profitable company, with 100 employees and €10M in annual sales. Sander Nijssen is excited about his new role at iversity and explains his decision to join the team: “The dynamic development of the online education market is like nothing we have seen before. For me, this is the unique chance to help build one of the most innovative European companies in the field of online education.”

With the introduction of new courses, more certification opportunities for online learners and valuable additions to management, iversity finds itself in the perfect position to thrive with the anticipated expansion of academic partnerships, company size and sales.
