Press release from: The Essential Office

The Essential Office, a virtual assistance practice, was established in December 2006 by its owner and Virtual Assistant, Davida Scretchings. The mission of The Essential Office is to provide administrative support to coaches and consultants so they can focus their time on growing their businesses and providing high quality services to their clients.

Small business owners and entrepreneurs struggle to find time to expand their businesses while managing the piles of administrative work that is necessary to sustain their businesses. They don’t require a full-time employee and/or work from home and lack the space for one, so what options are available for small business owners? This is where a Virtual Assistant (VA) steps in.

A VA is different from a typical assistant or “secretary.” A VA partners with clients, learning all aspects of their businesses so she can step in and proactively support the client’s business goals. A VA is an independent contractor and therefore pays her own taxes, uses her own equipment and eliminates many of the expenses associated with hiring an employee. Additionally, a VA charges clients only for the time she actually works, unlike an employee that is paid for coffee breaks and other down time. “More importantly,” says Davida, “a VA can identify what you are going through as a business owner because she is one. A VA doesn’t wait for you to tell her what she needs to do; she already knows what she needs to do and does it.”

Several experiences in Davida’s personal and professional life led her to a career in virtual assistance. After 14 years as an Executive Assistant in the corporate world, Davida was interested in taking her career in a new direction. She enlisted the help of a business and life coach and the support she received from her coach gave her the motivation to start her own VA practice. Davida’s experience working with her coach made such a positive impact on her, she decided to support coaches and other consultants that help people live beyond their dreams, and create the life they want to live. With her consulting background, Davida is highly effective at helping her clients deliver top-notch service for their clients and as a result, they have more time to build their businesses, spend more time with their family and friends and do the things they love to do. “Not many people enjoy doing administrative work, but I do,” says Davida. “It’s an opportunity to do work that creates value and helps people.”
