Naples Lions Club Charter Anniversary Event Celebrates 85 Years of Community Service
Naples Lions Club
Quality medical care for low-income families is a pressing issue in Collier County. According to Data USA, from 2014-2021, 14% of the children in Collier County were living in poverty and nearly 14% of the population did not have health insurance. The Naples Lions Club, a nonprofit organization, is dedicated to helping those in need. "I remember the wonderful note I got from a parent whose child we found to have Amblyopia (lazy eye) and needed glasses," said Lion Dr. Howard Freedman. "She was so thankful we helped address the issue. With glasses, her son did much better in school."
Through a volunteer network and community partnerships, the Naples Lions Club provides free eye, hearing, and diabetes screening, as well as free eyeglasses and hearing aids to low income families at 50 locations in Collier County. The Naples Lions Club has served over 83,000 low-income families in Collier County. The organization also provides tuition assistance to Lorenzo Walker Technical High School, and to students in the nursing and medical fields.
