Silica Sand (SiO2) is a type of silicon dioxide appearing as a granular material with quartz and little amounts of coal and clay primarily found in mines. It has a high hardness ratio and is very hard. The sand is present in many forms, each one with a unique composition and quality set with a chemical mine structure and silica ratio. The mineral group contains an Oxygen and Silicon mix appearing colourless in its pure state. The crystalline state of the sand is due to weathering and plankton fossilization. It has a density of g/cm3: 2.65 and a Mohs hardness of 7. It has high melting and boiling points of 3,110 °F and 4,046 °F.
