Kingdom Operational Excellence in Financial Services gets under way in Riyadh.

The Kingdom Operational Excellence in Financial Services conference kicked off on 19th of May at the Hotel Novotel Al Anoud, Riyadh, Saudi Arabia. This gathering of operational excellence specialists from all over Saudi Arabia is sponsored by SmartStream Technologies (Platinum Sponsor), Veripark (Silver Sponsor), ITC Infotech (Bronze Partner) and Newgen (Associate Partner).

The gathering commenced in the presence of 80+ attendees, with the chairman's opening speech. The gathering was chaired by Mr.Pritesh B. Kotecha, Vice President – Middle East, South Asia & Africa at SmartStream Technologies. Following Mr. Kotecha's opening speech, his colleague, Mr. Wael Issa - Senior Solutions Head: SmartStream Technologies presented his views on the importance of intraday liquidity management, managing cash and liquidity, automating the enterprise-wide reconciliation process in his presentation on "Ensuring middle and back office operations are ready for regulatory change"

An all COO panel comprised of a group of COOs from the country's financial sector which addressed the need of the hour in operations and process improvement. The session titled 'Transforming operations to succeed in business improvement' answered important questions such as, Are my operational controls working properly? Big Data & Information – Do I have enough information to satisfy all my business units? Are my clients sticking around? and so on. The participants of this panel discussion represented Samba Financial Group, Jadwa Investment Company, Saudi Hollandi Bank and The Saudi British Bank.

Lav Kataria, Chief Operating Officer, Saudi Hollandi Bank spoke about identifying the contribution of people to project results, examine elements of successful individual change and establishing best practices for managing change in his presentation on 'Achieving Operational Excellence: Managing change to Maximizing results.'

Day 1 also featured presentations from Ozkan Erener, Chief Executive Officer, VeriPark who presented on 'New Customer Enrolment and Account Opening in 10 Minutes'. Turki AlNagaidan, General Director of Development & Quality, Saudi Credit & Savings Bank presented his insights on 'Transforming operations at Saudi Credit & Savings Bank'.A panel discussion titled 'Taking business process management to the next Level' which involved Hashim AlTamimi, Senior Operations Executive, Financial Services ; Mark Hookey, Director - Global Process Improvement Leader, Swiss Re and Ali Alomran, Head of Business Systems Division, Arab National Bank.

Day 2 of this gathering will see presentations from speakers representing Jadwa Investment Company, Swiss Re, World Bank, ITC Infotech, Oman Insurance Company PSC.
