CESoft Announced the General Availability of Excel Server 2007 Version 7.1.6

Beijing September 18, 2007 – CESoft has released the latest version 7.1.6 of its flagship product, Excel Server 2007, this week in Beijing.

Excel Server 2007 is an Enterprise Information Platform, on which organizations' key business processes can be modeled and implemented with easy-to-use graphical user interface – Microsoft Excel, and the relational database management system – Microsoft SQL Server. With the help of Excel Server, customers are able to “DIY” their critical information systems in a business-oriented, rather than an IT technology-oriented, manner.

Excel Server's customers define business logic, design data report templates, and handle business data all in Microsoft Excel, which lowers the learning curve and the maintenance costs of the product. Many enterprise customers are already familiar with the friendly user interface of Microsoft Office including Excel, and are usually equipped with necessary skills to handle spreadsheets in their daily routine works. Therefore, the training costs of an Excel Server-based system are relatively small.

Although customers deal with the Excel Server-based information system through Microsoft Excel, the business logic and data are actually stored and centrally managed in Microsoft SQL Server database, which guarantees the organization-wide data integrity and security.

Its built-in workflow support makes Excel Server also an Enterprise Application Integration (EAI) platform. Each work item on the workflow chain is data-driven, and integrated into the overall business process. The real-time progress of the workflow processing can be traced and monitored as needed.

Excel Server's business process modeling capability mainly features in its support of cross-referencing of multiple data sources. With the help of the “Data Fetcher” and “Data Writer”, customers can integrate disparate data items into a universal view that helps reveal in-depth business meanings.

The first release of Excel Server dated back to 2003, when CESoft was providing IT consulting service to the Anyang Iron and Steel Inc., a steel manufacturer in northern China.
