How Gamification Tool Flyy Is Changing the Way You Engage Users

That's exactly how Flyy was created by Sunny Gurnani (Co-Founder and CEO) and Venkatesh Rao (Co-Founder and CPO) in November 2020.
With Sunny being the 'grounded' one and Venkatesh being the 'high on energy' one, they met through a common friend and together started AppBrowzer - a mobile app store in 2015.
After experiencing low customer engagement during AppBrowzer days, Sunny and Venkatesh tried their hands on a gamified referral program.
❝ Companies do struggle when it comes to being in touch with their users on a daily basis. Most mobile apps go out to users via emails, SMSs, and notifications but that doesn't go too far. There's another way to do it by adding gamification to these communications. ❞ says Sunny.
The AppBrowzer referral program hit 300k to 1.5 million users in 21 days.
Both saw great potential in gamification to engage users better and decided to extract Flyy out of this learning, as a comprehensive referral and reward solution.
Headquartered in Bangalore, Karnataka with an office in Ludhiana, Punjab, Flyy is a gamification platform that lets you create challenges in your app/website to activate, engage and retain customers.
In simple words, it lets you pick an event and attach a reward to it so that instead of you going out to users, users come into your app/website.
How does Flyy work?
As a SaaS-based gamification platform, Flyy offers an SDK which integrates into a mobile app or website. Post this, a dashboard allows you to create multiple campaigns which go LIVE inside your app. Using Flyy you can,
Create challenges on the platform
Attach gamified rewards to them via game mechanics such as scratch cards, spin the wheel, stamp collection
Deliver rewards via an in-built payout wallet mechanism
Flyy Gamification Modules
Talking about the 3 modules that Flyy offers depending on client goals (customer acquisition, retention and engagement), Sunny says that the customer retention module is their core module which allows apps to create campaigns.
❝ Pick any event like a user completing a transaction or sharing a video in your app. Take that event and attach a reward to it. You can also add game mechanics between action and reward like stamp collection, leaderboard, spin the wheel etc. ❞
While Flyy today has 3 solid modules to offer, they initially didn't talk about them as it was difficult to explain app gamification concepts to clients who were used to standard engagement channels.
Since most people out there understand scratch card-like rewards, Flyy took a simpler road to overcome the above challenge by saying

This opened up a door to client opportunities with Dealshare becoming Flyy's first client in April 2020. During this time, Sunny and Venkatesh started their work on customer engagement modules wherein they spoke to 50+ product managers on problems they faced when it came to customer engagement.
Today, Flyy's key client focus is high-growth fintech startups as there are lot of mundane tasks which users do on a regular basis on fintech apps like trading, completing KYC, and putting bank details.
Gamifying that experience has helped Fintech apps see a huge jump in user engagement. Hence, 80% of clients are in fintech companies like Kotak, CASHe, Avail Finance, StuCred, and TaxBuddy.
Flyy Revenue Model and Growth
Sunny thanks SaaS for its revenue model which is based on the number of MAUs (Monthly Active Users) a client has.

Flyy's Team
Having a team who strongly believes in your mission is bliss and Flyy understands this too well. Their core team came from their first startup AppBrowzer.
The team had built the gamified scratch card referral program already for AppBrowzer so Sunny and Venkatesh didn't really have to convince the team.
As of December 2022, they are a team size of 30.
What Sets Flyy Apart from Competitors?
Talking about direct competition, Sunny says that there's a lot of competition out there in many ways. When it comes to engagement, there's no single magic wand to engage users.
Everyone does it in different ways. One is doing amazing notifications, others emails or a mix.
Flyy is different because they create game-like challenges to hook users in a non-game environment.

Flyy Funding and Road Ahead
Flyy was self-funded till March 2022. They got their seed round in April 2022 of 400K USD.
Throwing light on future plans, Sunny mentions that they are trying to change the way companies engage users moving forward. Their near future plans are to go beyond fintech and focus on e-commerce.

Additionally, Flyy also plans to have a completely redesigned platform in place so that clients can self-onboard themselves along with having Flyy plug-ins on top online e-commerce stores like Shopify.
