HTT Wins Contract with euNetworks for Commissioning and Testing Services on European Fibre Ring Networks

17 September 2007 – Specialist telecoms services company Hutchison Team Telecom (HTT) has been chosen to provide commissioning and testing services for customers that are using euNetworks’ high-capacity, long-haul and metropolitan fibre networks.

Under the terms of the agreement, HTT will provide critical hardware and POP testing services for customers using euNetworks’ long-haul EU1 and EU2 fibre networks.

euNetworks deployed high-capacity dense wave division multiplexing (DWDM) optical equipment across its European network in spring 2007 to deliver euro¦nex - a single source, seamless long-haul to last-mile, door2door, next generation networking solution throughout Europe’s largest cities and economies.

Constructed at a cost in excess of EUR1.3 billion, euNetworks’ fibre optic networks combine “long-haul” (country-to-country/city-to-city) with “last-mile” (inner-city) fibre, uniquely connecting Germany, The Netherlands, Ireland, United Kingdom, France and Belgium.

According to euNetworks, it chose HTT to provide the services because of its extensive experience with fibre networking, and following a recommendation from the euNetworks partner, business comms company Viatel.

Roger McDermott, euNetworks’ operations manager for EU1 and EU2, said: “Because we provide dedicated infrastructure to our customers on which any protocols, volumes of data and applications can be used, we needed a partner that could test and commission a wide range of networking and transmission equipment, anywhere on our long-haul European networks. HTT’s team delivers on this commitment.”
