Pathfinder Health Develops Framework to Help Young Children Reach Their Maximum Potential
SEATTLE, WASHINGTON, October 31, 2022. - Pathfinder Health has announced the release of a new framework to help parents support their children's development. The framework was designed in response to the fact that 90% of a child's brain develops by age 5, and the quality of a child's experiences in the first five years of life - positive or negative - determines which brain connections will develop and last for a lifetime.
"The challenge we face today as parents is that there are so many different developmental theories and viewpoints about what constitutes healthy child development. It can be difficult for parents to keep up with the latest research and understand how it applies to their children," says Dr. Paul Patterson, Developmental-Behavioral Pediatrician and Co-founder of Pathfinder Health.
To address this confusion and help busy families find practical ways to support their children's growth in all key domains - physical, cognitive, social, emotional, and language - Pathfinder Health developed the PROE (Play, Relationship, Observation, Experiences) Framework that is based on the most up-to-date science, grounded in child development theories, and presented in a straightforward and actionable way.
As evidence of how well the framework works, Paul points out that during testing 100% of participating families reported increased engagement with their children.
"I think the idea of the PROE framework is great! As someone who works with children (SLP) and who has two young children of my own, it encapsulates what I know as a professional to be important for development while being parent-friendly and easy to understand. It simplifies the many different child development theories into an easily accessible format," says Molly D, a parent and a Speech-Language Pathologist.

The Pathfinder Health app is a fresh new way to look after a child's development. It is the only app that empowers parents to effectively track their children's development against CDC and AAP (American Academy of Pediatrics) clinical guidelines, detect developmental concerns, and helps provide data-driven inputs to a child's primary care provider.
