PPA refers to a long-term electricity/power supply agreement between a power producer and a customer (electricity consumer or trader). The power producer sells the power generated to the customer at a fixed rate that is typically lower than the local utility's retail rate. This lower electricity price helps to offset the customer's purchase of electricity from the grid. At the same time, the seller receives the income from the sales of electricity as well as any tax credits and other incentives generated from the system. Physical delivery PPA, virtual PPA, portfolio PPA, and block delivery PPA are some of the types of power purchase agreements.
