Caustic soda is industrially produced through the electrolysis of brine solution. Large electrolytic production processes use membrane cells and diaphragm cells. Caustic soda is an inorganic compound that is used in various end-use industries due to its strong alkaline property. It is prepared by using three processes: Castner-Kellner process, Nelson Diaphragm cell, and Loewig's process. The Castner-Kellner method is one of the most commonly used processes for manufacturing caustic soda.
