HR Oman Summit - Time For Change- Next Generation HR- Evolution 2.0
The drastic fall in oil prices and the Gulf crisis of 1990 weakened the economy of Oman leading to the growing number of Omanis approaching the private sector for employment. However, private sector employers were more enthusiastic to recruit immigrant workers than employ young Omanis thereby leading to unemployment amongst them. This situation coincided with the majority of jobs being occupied by non-Omanis, thus raising questions about the efficiency of the human resource policies and strategies of the country. Omanization, a policy that encouraged local companies and government offices to replace expatriate workers with trained Omani Personnel aided the region from the late 1980's and towards the end of the 1990's, a drastic increase in local employment was recorded. However, recent economic turmoils has further worsened the situation and a restructure in HR policies is the need of the hour. With progressive development, trade and privatization plans in the pipeline, the Omani HR industry is now witnessing a gradual change in it‘s roles and responsibilities with the advent of evolving business needs, dynamic industrialization and government regulations.
Under the Patronage of H.E Al Sayed Salim Musalam Ali Al-Busaidi, Under-Secretary Of Administrative Development, Ministry Of Civil Service - Oman, the 3rd Annual HR Oman Summit to be held from 27 - 29 January 2014 in Muscat will act as an learning platform for HR professionals in Oman to share insights, exchange best practices and carve a path to create a system that recognizes, recruits and rewards talent across all industries. Senior HR professionals from leading companies in the Middle East such as Saudi Aramco, KSA, Ministry Of Health, Oman, Oman Telecommunications Company, DHL Express, Oman, Al Futtaim Group, Pat Luby Consulting FZ-LLC, Shell International, Qalhat LNG and others will congregate at the summit that will showcase real life case studies, over 15 presentations, 3 breakout sessions, an exclusive Top Management panel discussion and one - day workshop.
