Partnership allows ASI to offer a wide range of graphics solutions to the Canadian market

MONTREAL — Nov. 7, 2013 — Fremont, California-based ASI Computer Technologies, a leading distributor of computer components and peripheral products to over 20,000 VARs throughout North America with branch locations in Toronto, Montreal, and Vancouver, has recently been added as a Matrox Graphics Authorized Distributor in Canada.

ASI has been an authorized distributor in the United States for many years while developing a unique customer base consisting of VARs and System Integrators who have built their businesses by specializing in the support of the SMB market segment and specific verticals such as digital signage, a key focus for Matrox. This competency lead to the expansion of both companies partnerships and the addition of ASI Canada as an authorized distributor.

“We’re very excited about the opportunity to further develop our business in Canada. Matrox has excelled at engineering products that target specific vertical markets such as digital signage, medical imaging, high performance graphics design, video entertainment, as well as finance and ASI serves customers that specialize in all these markets,” said Kent Tibbils, ASI VP of Marketing. “Our customers benefit tremendously from technology such as that which is available from Matrox, that allows them to add more capability and greater value to their purpose-built hardware solutions.”

Because of its technical relevance, graphics has always been a cornerstone of ASI’s product offering dating back to the company’s early years. “Having an opportunity to work closer with a company as well established as Matrox will be extremely valuable to ASI and our Canadian resellers,” noted Renaldo Dwarka, ASI Canada Business Development Manager.

Graphics solutions continue to be one of the focus product segments at ASI and the company has a positive outlook in to the future as various segments that utilize high performance video continue to grow. Graphics technology is a key component in these verticals where ASI has implemented strategic focus.
"From our well-established position in many key Canadian markets, we are expanding our H.264 encoding business, our control room business with products such as KVM extenders and video wall controller boards and our digital signage business, particularly in luxury applications where special effects are applied to the outputs of today's most popular digital signage media players," said Samuel A. Recine, Director of Sales - Americas & Asia Pacific, Matrox Graphics Inc. "We are counting on ASI Canada’s expertise to help expand our footprint in these growth markets."
