Made specifically for the beauty industry, the software provides users with the space to list information about their skin texture and problems before getting ingredient recommendations for the best results.

The AI/ML team at MoogleLabs completed the project in July 2022 by extracting people's reviews of various skincare products from Sephora's official website and using the data as a base for their research.

To create the recommendation system, the team first extracted all the relevant data and then ran a sentiment analysis on it. As people mention their skin texture, color, and problems in their profile information on Sephora, they were able to use the information to get a detailed analysis of specific products and ingredients' impact on their skin.

To determine the potent elements of the products, the CSV file also accumulated information on the various ingredients available in each product. Moreover, they also incorporated credible data about the multiple ingredients, their ratings, their ability to tackle specific issues, and other details.

Turning the data into information through machine learning resulted in a recommendation system that can take the users' input about their skin and then suggest the most effective ingredient. Here, the recommendations stop at the ingredients, as the system does not advise any product.

The recommendation system utility does not stop in the beauty industry. The recommendation system is a scalable solution that can change per the client's needs. The same solution can be applied to make other recommendations, like new book suggestions for readers per their previous preferences.
