(Frankfurt/Berlin) On 31 October, the German Association of Interpreters and Translators (Bundesverband der Dolmetscher und Übersetzer – "BDÜ") presented DVB Bank SE ("DVB") with its St Jerome Prize for 2013. The award ceremony took place during BDÜ's "Language Services Day" in Frankfurt/Main. With the St Jerome Prize, the association has honoured a company for its outstanding achievements in multilingual communications for the second time. This year's winner, Frankfurt-based DVB, is a globally active transport finance specialist: the Bank has an international presence, with twelve office locations serving clients all around the world. The Bank employs more than 500 staff, embracing no less than 41 different nationalities. DVB's corporate language is English. The Bank commissions external language services providers for translating documents such as financial publications or press releases.

"For DVB, multilingual communications are more than a bare necessity – the Bank leverages them to sharpen its market profile", said BDÜ President André Lindemann. He explained that the Bank's strong emphasis on quality in language and translation, and its trusting cooperation with external service providers, had been key motivations for awarding the St Jerome Prize to DVB. According to Mr Lindemann, "DVB is exemplary in its cooperation with external translators and interpreters, demonstrating how an intensive dialogue with service providers enables language services of the highest quality." He added that the Bank consistently applies its high quality standards to multilingual communications, being committed and passionate about the best way to get its messages across.

Wolfgang F. Driese, CEO and Chairman of the Board of Managing Directors of DVB Bank SE, commented: "To be successful, a company's communications must always be focused on its stakeholders. Our target groups internationally – whether journalists, financial markets participants, clients or staff – expect concrete, consistent and clear information, combined with more in-depth communications offers. For this reason, we attach great importance to the transparent communication of our goals, strategies, results, and market assessments. One important 'means of transport' for this content is expressive language – in German just as in English, our corporate language. We are delighted to have won this award."

BDÜ, the German Association of Interpreters and Translators, launched the St Jerome Prize in 2012, in order to honour companies for exemplary multilingual communications. The Prize has been named after Saint Jerome, the patron saint of translators.

About the German Federal Association of Interpreters and Translators (Bundesverband der Dolmetscher und Übersetzer e.V. – "BDÜ"):
