Mr. Kevin Cheong, Chairman of Association of Singapore Attractions presents Exhibition of the Year award to Mr James Boey, Directo
Singapore, 22 October 2013 – It’s official. WasteMET Asia 2012 is the best exhibition of the year. The region’s premium exhibition to showcase the latest innovative equipment and technologies in waste management and recycling solutions, snagged the much-acclaimed accolade at the Singapore Experience Awards 2013 organised by the Singapore Tourism Board.
The Exhibition of the Year award exemplifies the best trade exhibition organised in 2012 and honours its organisers, who had demonstrated excellence in organising and delivering a quality event in various aspects like project management, scalability, sustainability and contribution to the industry growth as well as service excellence.
Held in July 2012, WasteMET Asia brought together over 8,000 buyers and more than 100 exhibitors from around the region. Together with the other co-located environment-related events, the inaugural edition also saw an attendance of 19,000 global leaders and delegates made up of 100 mayors and city leaders from 106 countries.
Organised by the Waste Management and Recycling Association of Singapore (WMRAS) and Singex Exhibition Ventures Pte Ltd, in partnership with the International Solid Waste Association (ISWA), the event provided a good starting point for participants who are sourcing for market-ready waste management solutions to establish industry contacts and explore collaborative opportunities. WasteMET Asia 2012 successfully witnessed 138 business matching sessions which resulted in S$476.5million worth of deals being announced, a feat no less for an inaugural event.
Singex Exhibition Ventures Pte Ltd is a part of Singex Group, a leading business venue and event solutions provider in Asia with more than 30 years of MICE experience.
Mr Jerome Baco, Chairman of WMRAS says, “With the aim to develop the waste management and recycling industry in Asia, we needed a platform to provide an abundance of business networking opportunities for industry professionals to exchange ideas and best-in-class practices on managing waste through the use of the latest technology and equipment available. WasteMET Asia draws experts from around the world to one common marketplace for this purpose. With sterling results from the first edition, we are proud to have received the Exhibition of the Year award.”
Mr Aloysius Arlando, Chief Executive Officer of Singex Group says, “We set out wanting to do our part for this worthy environment-related cause. With our vast experiences in the development and organisation of a strong portfolio of exhibitions and conventions, we saw the opportunity of how we could help our partners communicate the importance of waste management and reach out to their intended target audience, exhibitors and visitors alike, through WasteMET Asia. We are elated with the win and extend our heartiest congratulations to our partners, as well as our sponsors who believed in us through their generosity.”
The next edition of WasteMET Asia, to be held in June 2014, promises to be bigger and better with 10,000 buyers ready to do business with more than 160 participating companies, over a larger floor space of 7,250 square metres. Visitors to the event can also look forward to key event highlights such as a wider profile range of exhibitors, exciting site visits, networking gala dinner, new product launches and presentations, etc.
