Singer songwriter Cynthia Johnson in high demand

New solo albums and invitation to one of the most important French TV shows

Minneapolis, MN, October 2, 2013, singer songwriter Cynthia Johnson is well known for singing the smash-hit “Funkytown”, but her international, long-term career features also other remarkable achievements as an actress in plays and performer in television programs, as well as her accomplishments as a solo artist writing and performing her own music.

After seven years as the lead singer of the popular Minneapolis band Flyte Tyme, Johnson left the band looking for new musical endeavors. Shortly after, thanks to her unmistakable lead vocals, she became well known with the smash-hit “Funkytown” that went straight to #1 in 28 countries around the world. To date the song sold more than 35 million copies worldwide placing her together with Prince and Bob Dylan among the three most successful Minneapolis´ singers of all times. The song has been featured in over 20 movies, among them Shrek 2, Mel Brooks´, History of the World, etc. and has also been used in more than 100 TV shows, various major sporting events, and advertisement campaigns of big multinational companies such as VW, Areva, FedEx, Nissan amongst many others.

Johnson continued working for many years with numerous other artists, became a member of the Grammy Award winning choir Sounds of Blackness and produced her first solo album. "All that I Am" features the best studio musicians from the Twin Cities´ and is due to be published in October 2013 on the label Megabien Music.

Since 2012 Cynthia is under new management with the Minneapolis based production company Megabien Entertainment. In addition, she became the host of the TV program "Funkytown", a co-production of Megabien Entertainment and Radio Bremen that is part of the German Public TV network. The Minneapolis-episode of the "Funkytown" series features fellow artists such as Prince, Joanne Shenandoah, Mint Condition, Ben Sidran, Desdamona, Irv Williams amongst many others and aired all over Europe in May 2013; more productions in other US cities are in preparation (see www.funkytown.us).

Enjoying the work of "All that I Am", Cynthia started to write new songs for her next solo album "Shake" that is now in production with award winning producer Mark Howard and Megabien Entertainment. After having been singing the whole range from R&B, jazz, and gospel to disco and funk, the new album is a return to Cynthia's roots and real love: high-energy rock. "Shake" will be released in 2014 followed by an extensive world tour and participations on several international festivals.

But before, Megabien Entertainment is pleased to announce the participation of Cynthia Johnson at one of the most important French TV shows “Les Années Bonheur”. The successful entertainment television show, presented by France´s most popular entertainer Patrick Sebastien since 2007, has over 70 million viewers worldwide and is broadcasted in France, the French overseas territories, Belgium, Switzerland and Canada by the public TV-networks FR2 and TV5 in prime time on a Saturday evening (8pm to 11pm). In the US, the show can be seen by cable at TV5Monde. The show´s episode with Johnson´s and other national and international artists’ participation will be recorded in Paris next month on October 14-15, 2013 and will be broadcasted in January 2014.
