Automated package labeling

Automated package labeling

cab solutions have been enabling reliable labeling for more than 45 years. Companies specialized in the packing of industrial and consumer goods appreciate the wide range of operations possible with the units and systems, as well as their integrability to fully automatic packing lines. At the cab Fachpack booth, a collaborative robot application complements proven disciplines of labeling.

Already in 2012 cab demonstrated with an early HERMES system how to apply labels to packaging by means of a robot. Such systems have long since provided all the interfaces required for operations in a network, Industry 4.0 protocols included. Whether labels are to be tamped, rolled or blown automatically onto objects after printing, on the side or corner-wrap, HERMES Q print units can be individually combined with an applicator. In Nuremberg, a state of the art cobot will label pallets pinpoint. cab applicators demonstrate the range of possibilities on objects running on a conveyor belt.

For the first time, the IXOR label dispenser is exhibited by the cab spin-off TAG ON in four current configurations. A model with motorized winders takes large rolls with 510 mm maximum diameter. A high-torque external rotor direct drive enables all rolls be rotated and webs wound or unwound as required. A second system has been designed for integration to rotary lines in which, for example, bottles are labeled in continuous operation. Another model integrates a PX Q print module, enabling labels be printed in the same operation. In a fourth setup, labels are transferred to a form pad and held by vacuum. Pad and label then move to the target position on the package for transfer. This configuration in particular suits for label applications based on minimum tolerances. All IXOR systems apply self-adhesive labels in high quantities automatically and precisely to objects, in continuous or clocked operation. TAG ON is contact point for sales, system integration and technical service.

Other exhibits:
• A model for 8" maximum print width adds to the proven SQUIX 2", 4", 6" industrial printer units. Labels up to A4 size can be printed and peeled off, for example in pallet applications or with large containers such as drums.
• XD Q are for labeling shrink tubes on their front and back sides. These printers have two print heads assembled. Print resolution has increased to 600 dpi
• Roll retainers equipped with different labels can be interchanged as required on MACH 4S printers
• If printing labels where no power socket is provided, EOS provides a rechargeable battery.
• XC for printing with two colors on hazardous labels
• AXON 1 for printing labels and applying them to tubes and vials in one operation
• Classic HS label dispensers for operations on manual workstations
