Normally web designers laboriously manually create style sheets (CSS) and then debug them. In the new clearString web development platform Theme system http://www.clearstring.com/web-application-development-th... the style values are entered into a Table in the integrated database. The web development platform then takes those values and creates optimized CSS - with no debugging.
“The web designer then can easily assign multiple values for styles that can be switched on demand,” continued David Rose. “A single site can be presented in multiple Themes: ‘looks’, or languages or can be automatically switched by using criteria - such as what domain a site is being viewed from, or whether the visitor is logged on or not.”
Themes are compatible with the normal clearString web application development platform style inheritance: if a style takes a value from a theme (instead of storing the value itself) the value is still available to be inherited by child components in the site. One of the most powerful ways to use themes is to set the themes up on the Style dialogs on the website root globe node, so they are then inherited throughout the entire site.
The ability of the clearString web application development platform to present the same application in an unlimited number of custom appearances, controlled by the designer can be combined with the integrated billing and hosting components of the clearString web application development platform to create revenue earning Software as a Service (SaaS) applications. http://www.clearstring.com/saas-application-development
The ‘Themes’ system in the clearString web development platform also makes the development of Intranet and Extranet applications rapid and secure, with strong corporate styling easily enforced on sub-sites or product sections created using the clearString web application development platform.
