Press release from: Nearbytes

Near Field Communication enables exchange of data at close range without the need to go online. Now Kinetics, a Brazilian startup, is aiming to differentiate itself with its Nearbytes technology, which enables contactless data transmission between smartphones.

Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, September 13, 2013 -- NearBytes, a Brazilian technology company, has developed a new communication by proximity technology based on sound with features similar to NFC (Near Field Communication ) that can be used on any Android/iOS legacy smartphone available today. This system was launched as an SDK in june this year. App and game developers wanting to communicate between devices should sign up, and use it to create new content and engage even more with their public.

NearBytes is a patented technology, and has many advantages compared to other systems.

List of features:
Perfect for small amounts of data;
Allows communication between devices that are close to each other;
Uses sound to encrypt, send and receive data.

Benefits:
Simple - requires no special hardware or capability;
Reliable - devices don't even need to be online, or have GPS enabled;
Robust - works in noisy places;
Universal - will run on practically any Android/iOS SmartPhone out there;
Safe - sound degradation and other safety features guard against interference.

“NearBytes is the go-to technology for proximity data transfer in Apps and Games because it’s relevant right now,” said Marcelo Ramos, CTO of NearBytes.

NearBytes can be used in all sorts of applications and games that currently, or plan on using NFC, such as mobile payments, promotional coupons, customized check-ins and more. Also NearBytes is offering very inclusive licensing models based on actual use. Developers can imbed the technology and will only have to pay for real use within their applications and games, and then only over the 50,000 threshold.

“NearBytes is a great fit for apps or games that involve exchanging small amounts of data, like e-wallets, loyalty and mileage apps, contact sharing, vending machine payment systems, sign-in and turnstile apps, trading cards type games and so forth. An added advantage is that none of the smartphones have to be online - just close up when exchanging data,” explained Marcelo.

NFC is still not a universal standard:
NFC adoption has not followed the projections made two years ago;
Many high-end devices are shipping without the NFC chip;
Almost no legacy SmartPhones have the NFC chip.
“Any app based on NFC will take several years to become mainstream. NearBytes makes all those apps that are waiting for NFC available right now, giving them a headstart of several years in the market,” explains Marcelo.

Taking part of the NearBytes Developer Program is very simple. Developers can register to test and use NearBytes, and can publish applications and games today. The NearBytes Dev area has comprehensive documentation and tutorials, that makes including the NearBytes SDK in iOS and Android games and apps a snap. There`s also a forum for help and tips from the developer community.

Become part of the new era in data transmission!
