A detailed picture of the Coronary Artery Disease (CAD) pipeline landscape is provided, which includes the disease overview and Coronary Artery Disease (CAD) treatment guidelines.Coronary Artery Disease Overview
Coronary artery disease (CAD), or coronary heart disease (CHD) is a major cause of death in developed, as well as developing countries, is a medical condition that arises when coronary arteries are not able to supply oxygen and nutrients to heart muscles due to possible blockage (atherosclerosis), disease or damage in arteries.

Coronary Artery Disease Types
Coronary artery disease is broadly divided into three types:
• Obstructive coronary artery disease, with narrowed or blocked vessels.
• Non-obstructive coronary artery disease, with arteries that inappropriately constrict or malfunction after branching into tiny vessels, or are squeezed by the overlying heart muscle.
• Spontaneous coronary artery dissection (SCAD), in which the layers of the artery suddenly split.
List of Coronary Artery Disease Companies includes-
• Amgen
• AstraZeneca
• Celecor Therapeutics
• XyloCor Therapeutics, and others
Coronary Artery Disease Therapies

• Zalunfiban
• AZD-5718
• Evolocumab, and others
Coronary Artery Disease Symptoms
Coronary Artery Disease symptoms can range from shortness of breath to chest pain of varying intensity. This kind of chest pain is called angina. It is usually associated with a feeling of constriction or anxiety, and it may extend into the arms, back of the neck, back, upper abdomen or jaw. These symptoms are most often triggered by physical exertion because the heart muscle needs more oxygen then. They occur if too little blood flows through the coronary arteries.
Coronary Artery Disease Risk Factors
• Smoking
• Diabetes
• Hypertension
• Obesity
• Homocystinuria
• Hyperuricemia
• Psychosocial stress
Coronary Artery Disease Diagnosis
Coronary Artery Disease can be diagnosed in several ways. Patients with documented (prior) MI or coronary artery revascularization (either with PCI or CABG) have CHD. Moreover, the presence of typical angina suggests a clinical diagnosis of CHD, but most often requires confirmation by additional diagnostic tests, such as coronary angiography. However, this test is an invasive and relatively costly procedure associated with a low, yet definite, risk of an adverse event. Coronary angiography is most often performed following an abnormal stress test or in the setting of an acute coronary syndrome (unstable angina or heart attack) in individuals who are candidates for revascularization (either by PCI or CABG).
Coronary Artery Disease Treatment
Coronary angioplasty is also known as percutaneous coronary intervention, is a procedure which involves temporarily inserting and inflating a tiny balloon where the artery is clogged to enlarge the artery. Two antiplatelet drugs have been approved for the long-term treatment of CAD in Germany and other countries: Acetylsalicylic acid (ASA) and clopidogrel. Statins are medications that lower certain cholesterol levels in the blood (cholesterol-lowering drugs). Beta blockers lower the heart rate, which reduces the strain on the heart. They also reduce blood pressure. ACE inhibitors and angiotensin II antagonists (also known as sartans) are blood-pressure-lowering drugs. Coronary artery bypass grafting (CABG) is a type of heart surgery for patients with severe coronary heart disease (CHD).
