The DELE-exam in August in numbers
The Diplomas in Spanish as Foreign Language (D.E.L.E.) are the only internationally recognized oficial titles and issued by the Spanish Ministry of Education and Science. There are six different levels in keeping with the proposals of the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages (CEFR): from the level A1 to the level C2.Every year there are three examination dates for achieving the DELE exam with its different levels: in May, August and November. The inscription for the exam takes place until more or less one month before the examination date via internet, for example through the page of the Instituto Cervantes or as well through the homepage of one of the examination centres.
The registration fee is the same all over Spain, disregarding the respective DELE matriculation and registration centres. The Instituto Cervantes, in collaboration with the University of Salamanca, is the body that writes and corrects these exams.
The last examination date that was realized this year 2013 was in August; the days 21st and 22nd were dedicated to the part of oral expression and interaction and on the 23rd the written exam that included the test of written expression and listening comprehension was held. At this examination date participated 96 Spanish students from at least 29 different nationalities. Although the European nationalities predominated, the students from countries outside of our continent like Armenia, Azerbaijan, Benin, Brazil, China, Japan, Kazakhstan, Kenia, Saudi Arabia, Senegal, South Korea, Taiwan or the USA stood out as well. The exams in Valencia were realized in the Spanish language school Costa de Valencia.
Despite of the fact that the examination date in August was only held with three of the six levels (B1, B2 and C1) the number of participants was proportionally higher than in the one held in May, which shows the increasing interest of the Spanish students to achieve an official title that accredits their knowledge of the language.
Since 1995 the language school Costa de Valencia has focused on teaching Spanish to non-native speakers. This language school, which is situated in the heart of Valencia, is a Centro Acreditado of the Instituto Cervantes and a member of many associations.
The teaching material, which is used during the lessons, is worked out by a team of well-versed teachers. One of the most important aspects of teaching in this school is the individual involvement of every single student. This way every student has the possibility to speak very much during the language course. Furthermore, both managers place big value the quality of the language lessons and a broadly diversified leisure programme.
