Coach Cooper Advances the Art of Communication Training
Wow, super simple training to improve communication in the workplace! Cooper Arena (cooperarena.com) opens to offer fast, easy, and affordable Web-Based Training featuring Coach Cooper.Interpersonal communication (IPC) isn't a soft skill, it's strategic. Workforce practitioners and policy makers agree that developing communication skills is key to a workplace based more and more on knowledge and group oriented work. IPC In The Workplace is a new web-based training experience that highlights four key barriers to interpersonal communication and three Simple Measures we can use to overcome them.
IPC In The Workplace is based on Charles Fleeman’s graduate work in communication and 20 years on-the-job in big, medium, and small companies that were domestic and international, public and private, profit and non-profit. “The problem with most communication training is that it feels too much like therapy, and therapy requires more effort than most people are willing to make for workplace performance. IPC In The Workplace is different because it’s a coaching model that enables recognition of mindsets and managing habits in situations, rather than overarching personality change. A sports analogy of this difference would be improving someone’s tennis game by showing him the proper position to hit a volley, rather than undertaking a whole new life of fitness, diet, and classroom study.”
The barriers highlighted in the training are Hyper-Culture; Righteousness; Power, Place, Preservation; and Incivility. The barriers blend traditional interpersonal concepts with some that are byproducts of our dynamic culture. The Simple Measures are derived from the work of the late Dr. Albert Ellis and Dr. Carl Rogers, two of the most respected psychologists of the 20th Century. Rogers is probably the most favored interpersonal thinker among management theorists from coast to coast.
Coach Cooper’s training is web-based, which means it’s available far and wide, all the time. For $19.95 a client receives unlimited access to the training pages for 15 days. The pages can be viewed in one visit, a little bit at a time, or many times during the 15 day period. The training is presented in eight sections as a series of web pages with text, graphics, and some audio, but it’s designed as a one hour professional development course.
Charles Fleeman has worked for a variety of organizations including Harris Corporation, Heller Financial, UPS, Fireman's Fund, American Red Cross, and Florida State University. In 1989, before anyone heard of the internet, Mr. Fleeman championed the use of online public records to increase the speed and capacity for closing secured finance transactions and save money. He has served on advisory committees and work groups for government and industry. Mr. Fleeman was born in Chicago and raised in Southern California. He received his MS in Communication from Florida State University, and his BA in Humanities from California State University.
