Evan Guthrie Law Firm Speaks At St. Johns High School Career Symposium On Johns Island In Charleston SC

Attorney Evan Guthrie of the Evan Guthrie Law Firm in Charleston, South Carolina spoke at the Career Symposium at St. Johns High School on Johns Island in Charleston, SC on Thursday March 28th 2013. Mr. Guthrie represented the legal profession and spoke to students that were pre selected as having a potential interest in a law career. Attorney Guthrie spoke to three groups of students for about a half hour each. Mr. Guthrie stayed in the same classroom while the students rotated locations. Mr. Guthrie spoke about his background story and journey through high school, college, and law school, what qualifications and steps it takes to become a practicing lawyer, what steps students could take now to prepare themselves for a possible career in law, the ups and downs about being in the legal field, some of his most interesting cases, and some legal issues that affect high school students. Mr. Guthrie answered questions that ranged from how does one become a judge to what practice area of law earns the most income.

St. Johns High is part of the Charleston County School District and encompasses most of Johns Island and surrounding areas in Charleston, SC. This was the second time that. Mr. Guthrie had an opportunity to speak at the school. Mr. Guthrie attended the career day at the school in the previous year and manned a table in the school’s gym. Attorney Guthrie was joined by his intern and Community Outreach Events Coordinator , Julie Chen. Julie contributed to the discussion with different groups of students by offering advice about college and internships. Mt. Guthrie enjoyed his visit to the school and the chance to answer questions about the legal profession and talk to students that may one day enter into that career field. Mr. Guthrie looks forward to being a part of the event for many years to come.
